pandemic. it is not only nonurgent treatment that has been impacted by the pandemic. it is also a&e and ambulances. with more people being vaccinated and covid restrictions being eased, people are more willing to use emergency services. they have seen the busiest month on record. we have also had the worst performing month on record for both of them last month injuly. now there is some good news. more people are now receiving cancer treatment for the first time. and there is a slight decrease in the number of people waiting more than 12 months. now why is this happening? well, of course, covid has had a massive impact. nonurgent surgeries have been delayed here slightly longer than in england. some doctors frustrated by that fact. i have heard from a few of them. there are still restrictions in place for covid. things can t move so quickly. more people are being added to the waiting list. the health minister has pledged an extra £140 million to help ease the waiting lists. that is
wait two years for a hip operation. this is not good news for anyone who was on that waiting list for people who can be life changing treatment. and i think this is the beginning of what we will see coming out of lockdown. we have been in lockdown for essentially almost a year and a half now and coming out of lockdown, the nhs has focused away from covid i9 and on to what is essentially been nonurgent treatment which will still have huge impacts on peoples lives and so, peoples operations that they would have been waiting for, knee and hip operations is what they re focusing on, we ll look at back operations and after knee and hip operations, we will then look at the fact that a lot of people will of been put off a lot of things they would ve wanted to see the gps about specialists will
