In times of need, Qatar has provided significant relief to many countries, including the Philippines through several government organizations like the Qatar Fund For Development (QFFD), Qatar Red Cross Society (QRCS), the Embassy of Qatar in Manila.

Azkals to hold two-week training camp in Doha

Published May 5, 2021, 8:31 PM The Philippine Azkals will hold a two-week training camp in Doha, Qatar prior to the resumption of their campaign in the second round of the World Cup/Asian Cup Qualifiers. Philippine Football Federation president Nonong Araneta confirmed the Doha camp tentatively set for May 18 to 31 following discussions with the Qatar Football Association. Araneta added that the Azkals could hold friendly matches against teams that are also slated to train in the Qatari capital in preparation for the Group A matches to be held in Suzhou, China next month. “As you know very well, it’s so hard to train now in the Philippines so we have decided to do a training camp in Qatar,” Araneta said during the PFF’s virtual press briefing Wednesday, May 5.

Samahang Weightlifting ng Pilipinas (SWP) president Monico Puentevella said Tuesday, April 27, that he already coordinated with other top sports officials for Diaz and her team to be in Japan early. “May problema sa Japan, ayaw nila dumating ka dun (athlete) gusto nila five days before the competition (There is a problem in Japan, they don’t want the athletes to be there (early), they want five days before the competition,” said Puentevella in the online Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum.
