Over 1,900 votes were cast as part of the One Vegetable, One Community campaign the pea received 559 votes followed closely by zucchini with 466 votes. We have partnered with the University of Minnesota Extension for the past four years to lead this campaign: One Vegetable, One Community. The candidates are announced at the Crow Wing County Fair; we learn more about each candidate at the fair. Our goal is to get more people, especially children, to eat more vegetables. This spring, community volunteers visited over 900 first graders in Crow Wing County to talk to the students about the importance of eating their veggies; we partnered with area businesses to distribute over 900 seed packets. Our intent is to get these seeds planted in gardens and containers throughout Crow Wing County.
