this has been going on in beaumont since friday. we stood up our emergency operations center last wednesday. we did stop doing high water rescues that were non-emergency at dark last night, because it is so dangerous at night to do so. so we have resumed this morning those non-emergency rescues. we have a customer service hotline, our 311 system. the people that call in there. our teams are out already this morning to start rescuing the people that may have had issues overnight. we did start announcing yesterday afternoon that if you thought you might want to evacuate or need to evacuate, to call us. because we would come before dark. however, we do have 911 calls. we would go out to them. i know you are getting everyone the help as quickly as you can.
on the phone with me, the mayor of beaumont, becky aimes. just give me an update on the situation where you are in beaumont. well, right now, we re in the middle of some high water rescues. we had stopped doing non-emergency rescues yesterday at dark. we did announce that our citizens early on in the day. however, we did still do emergency rescues. so at daybreak this morning, that s what we started doing, and i guess you could say it s going smoothly. we are we were very prepared to begin this rescue. we do exercises all the time. i can t say that we ve ever prepared for anything quite of this magnitude, because we have had our emergency operation center stood up since wednesday, and we started getting very heavy rains on saturday night,
wound on his chest. the car. he had to make him sound menacing to justify what he had done. listen to those tapes again. only two you have to listen to, the walk-through, and the non-emergency. play them side by side right after each other. it s physically impossible the way he told the police, impossible, that trayvon martin ran behind those homes, came back, and circled his car. why is he lying? he didn t want to know about stand your ground. didn t want the police to know he knew about it. stand your ground?
what else did they show to you buttress their position zoom had i will ill and just hated, hated trayvon martin that night. what is their evidence? i m not being sarcastic. the five phone calls to non-emergency. you heard them. you have them in. you also have the sixth one. the state didn t present to you the call number six because it doesn t support their case. he s concerned a bunch of kids are playing outside and kids are swinging out there. there are some 4-year-olds and 6-year-olds. listen to that because you haven t heard it, i didn t play it to you. but it s in evidence.
maybe, because he did match the description unfortunately and that s just maybe happenstance. we ll talk more about that, too. so he calls it in and stayed on the phone like he s suppose to. does what he s suppose to. describe him. think he s black. white, hispanic. where is the how do we move from i m looking at a suspicious guy, i m not sure, it s raining out. he s not coming in the main entrances. when you look at those reports you will see there are ingress and egress point where people do come in to do bad things. and he talks to non-emergency. and he basically states on the phone all the way through.
