In Parliament on Thursday, the ANC suspended a party MP for trying to initiate a probe into President Cyril Ramaphosa’s knowledge of looted state money that was used for the party’s political campaigns in 2017 and his decision to remain silent to protect the party’s image.
Mervyn Dirks complained to Parliament finance watchdog Scopa about President Cyril Ramaphosa over allegations that he knew about the misuse of state funds for ANC campaigning.
In contrast to the fiery statement issued on Wednesday morning, in which the party accused the DA-led city of a political ploy and of being "highly opportunistic" for offering city venues, it changed its tune in a statement issued after 5pm.
