'Killers of the Flower Moon' puts Martin Scorsese in the streaming business now

Martin Scorsese ranks among the greatest directors of the last half-century, with no mountains left to climb. Yet he appears to remain in denial about changes in the movie business that he loves, and the fact that with his last two films, “The Irishman” and “Killers of the Flower Moon,” he has graduated to directing what are, for all intents and purposes, limited series for streaming.

Walk away from "Nomadland" and go to "The Last Shift" – Catholic World Report

Left: Frances McDormand stars in Nomadland (Hulu); right: Shane Paul McGhie and Richard Jenkins star in The Last Shift (Sony Pictures Releasing). “Nomadland” was a big winner at an Oscars that hardly anyone watched, with Chloé Zhao winning Best Director, Frances McDormand taking home Best Actress, and the film claiming Best Picture. Contrary to what the Academy thinks of the film, I believe is one of worst movies I’ve ever watched (which is saying something). I also believe that “The Last Shift” is a much better if lesser-known film, with a similar theme of a bad economy turning people’s lives upside down.

A 2021 Oscars Cheat Sheet

The strange and industry-shattering year of 2020 at the movies is up for, um, celebration this Sunday night at the 93rd Oscars. He’s teamed with Stacey Sher (who produced Soderbergh’s prescient “Contagion” a decade ago) and Jesse Collins for this daunting assignment. They won’t let it be boring – they’ve promised it will be COVID-safe but they have banned Zoom acceptance speeches and even sent nominees i
