Bloekombos mother killed and her one-year-old child shot

Cape Town - Community leaders in Bloekombos near Kraaifontein are lamenting the rate at which women and children are killed in the area.
The latest incident happened when a woman was shot dead and her one-year-old child was seriously wounded.
The police have since opened an investigation into Tuesday’s shooting in Jikizinto Street.
Police spokesperson André Traut said the police were searching for unknown suspects who opened fire on a 27-year-old woman.
“The victim’s one-year-old infant was wounded in the attack. Currently, detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and the suspects are yet to be arrested,” he said.

A Cape Town attorney has appeared in court on charges relating to the sexual abuse of minors.
The man, 36, was arrested last week after three children reported him to the police.
He is expected to apply for bail next week.
A Cape Town attorney has been arrested over rape allegations involving three minors.
The attorney, who cannot be named because he has not yet pleaded, appeared in the Muizenberg Magistrate s Court on Monday.
The 36-year-old man was arrested on Friday.
Police spokesperson Noloyiso Rwexana confirmed the attorney had been arrested after three minors reported him to police. Three victims reported the case and one victim is 14 years. The suspect appeared in Muizenberg Magistrate s Court on Monday on charges of unlawfully and intentionally engaging services of a child younger than 18 years for financial/other rewards, to perform sexual act with that child . whether it is committed or not.
