Three university students involved in a drug racket were granted bail after their interim bail plea was rejected by the court. The students were arrested for allegedly supplying drugs to colleges, PG accommodations, and hostels in Noida. The court noted that the quantity of drugs found on them was small. The students were suspended by Amity University pending an internal enquiry. Other suspects involved in the drug racket were also arrested and sent to jail.

GREATER NOIDA: Days after an FIR was lodged in an alleged case of extortion going on inside the Luksar jail premises, the jail superintendent BS Mukund, who got praise from the PM for his previous stint in Kaushambi jail has been transferred. Mukund who got the Noida posting after he found a mention and praise in the PM’s Mann Ki Baat programme for the Kaushambi jail’s initiative for protection of cows during winters in December 2020, had been given the posting at Greater Noida’s Luksar jail – considered a prime posting in police circles- in January 2021. However, soon after his transfer, there were reports that the jail superintendent had been taking steps to curb malpractices going inside the jail.

Over 90% Dasna, Luksar jail inmates vaccinated | Noida News

Representative image GHAZIABAD/NOIDA: Over 90% of the jail population in both Dasna jail in Ghaziabad and Luksar jail in Noida is now vaccinated. According to the Dasna jail officials, Ghaziabad made a record of vaccinating 2,400 jail inmates in a single day on Wednesday. Noida has also vaccinated 1,850 inmates in the age group of 18-44 years and the drive will end with vaccinating all inmates by Friday. Dasna jail superintendent Alok Singh said, “It is the highest number of jail inmates to be vaccinated in Uttar Pradesh in a single day. Not only this, all 577 inmates above 45 years are fully vaccinated. As the jail population changes daily, there will be some people in this age group who have been lodged recently and are yet to be vaccinated.”
