On Friday morning, a rainbow crosswalk was installed at Tejon and Colorado avenue to kick off Pikes Peak Pride. The Pikes Peak Pride Festival and Parade is returning to Downtown Colorado Spring this weekend. This is the first in-person celebration in two years.
The Pikes Peak Childrenâs Museum officially opened the doors at its new location in southeast Colorado Springs on April 10. âWe have been at this since 2005 without a location,â says Nohea March, executive director of the Pikes Peak Childrenâs Museum. âDuring that time weâve just been a mobile museum and have done a lot in the community. Weâve gotten our name out that way, going into schools, community centers, all the community events we could get to.â
The museum currently features six exhibits, including a woodworking station, a makerspace and a coding room. âThereâs a ton of stuff,â says March. âWeâre really big on STEAM â science, technology, engineering, art and math. Weâve got a whole art and makerspace room so they can create to their heartâs desire. The big talker is the woodworking bench, which has real tools on it. Weâve got [an ages] 0 to 5 room thatâs a lot of imagination play,
