The layoffs are the latest cost-cutting move for Tyson, the biggest US meat company by sales, as it grapples with declining profits and struggles to improve results.
Tyson Foods is asking its far-flung corporate employees to move to Arkansas and work at its Springdale headquarters, a site that will be expanded and remodeled to house them, the company said Wednesday.
Tyson Foods Inc. will relocate about 1,000 corporate positions from the Chicago area as well as South Dakota to its headquarters in Springdale, Arkansas.
