The grant was awarded from the U.S. National Science Foundation to a consortium of Pacific Island institutions of higher education. The grant will buoy students attending University of Hawai‘i Mānoa, Palau Community College, American Samoa Community College, the College of Micronesia – FSM, the College of the Marshall Islands and Northern Marianas College.
Noelani Puniwai is an ecologist and assistant professor at the UH Kamakakūokalani Center for Hawaiian Studies. She joined The Conversation to talk about why the limu survey is so important to the healing of the island which the military used to bomb for training for 50 years.
