He may be 72 years old but legendary broadcaster Gerry Kelly has no plans to hang up his microphone - despite being replaced by a female under 40 .
Indeed, in an ideal world, the Ardglass man would still be hosting his own chat show, like he did for 17 hugely successful years on UTV.
But, speaking to the Belfast Telegraph, the veteran TV and radio star said such a development is highly unlikely in the current climate. Life has changed so much, he said. Having the chat show was the dream job for me. If you work in television now for 17 weeks it s regarded as a success, so to do it for 17 years was amazing.

During what has been an unprecedented year with the Covid-19 pandemic, he explained that viewers are hanging on to newsreaders every word and it is their responsibility to make sure they get it right. I don t think that anything that has been achieved in the area of presenting the news can be seen in isolation, because I m only one part of the team and I couldn t do my job if I didn t have a team of correspondents and reporters with the gravitas that they have, says Paul. I m only one part of the chain in that sense. It s not about Paul Clark and it never was. The news will always be more important than I am and I think I have to remain grounded in that fact; that the news is always going to be more important than me.

LANCASTER, Pa. Police in Lancaster County are searching for a suspect accused of selling fentanyl to a person who later died of a drug overdose last month.
Noel Jerome Thompson, 20, of Lancaster, is charged with drug delivery resulting in death and criminal conspiracy relating to a victim s fatal overdose on Nov. 15, according to Manheim Township Police.
Police say Thompson and another suspect sold fentanyl to the victim, who subsequently ingested the drugs and died of an overdose on the 400 block of Revere Road.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Thompson, who remains at large, police say.
