On Monday, the Madras High Court made scathing remarks about the manner in which the Election Commission of India had conducted the recent Assembly polls in four states.
Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee said the Election Commission was singularly responsible for the second wave of Covid-19 ripping through the country. “Were you on another planet when election rallies were held?” the court asked the commission. “Your officers should be booked on murder charges probably.”
SRINAGAR: Nearly 18 more officers of the All India Services (AIS) are likely to be posted in Jammu and Kashmir shortly after No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from various departments, some of whom are natives of the Union Territory while the Central Government has decided to create one single department to facilitate posting in J&K amidst reports that some of the officers have applied to their own State/UT Governments where they are posted, others to DoPT or J&K Government, reported

Over a dozen AIS officers including IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS and other Services have been posted in Jammu and Kashmir during the past few months ever since the Union Ministry of Home Affairs sought applications from the senior officers for posting in the Union Territory in view of the shortage of officers.
