They are only allowed to come for 15 minutes at a time. Several people unaccounted for this morning that lived around this area including this man leonard neft. He last spoke to his family saturday as the fire raged near his home in anderson springs. He told his wife he didnt feel threatened. Authorities found his burned out car last night on a road that he might have tried to use as an escape route. This fire has so far burned 67,000 acres. This morning, 9,000 homes are still threatened. Almost 600 homes have burned down. Hundreds of other buildings destroyed. And this morning, 13,000 people are still under evacuation orders. Some were able to return to t

The helicopters captured the remains of some of the 580 homes that were destroyed in middle town and surrounding communities. For the latest on the valley fire we go live to amber lee in middle town and amber youve seen the destruction yourself. It is going to be a long time before many of these families are truly back home. Reporter heather block after block, this is what people will be coming home to. In many cases, the home is gone and all that is left standing is a chimney. Theres an eerie desolation in the small communitys ravaged by the fire as people come to grips with their loss. Homes reduced to rubble. Neighborhoods changed forever. Very tough. I dont know how lake county is going to cope with this.
