The government is all set to relocate the fourth batch comprising around 3,500 Rohingyas from Cox s Bazar to Noakhali s Bhasan Char today.
Over 1,152 Rohingyas left Cox s Bazar refugee camps for Chattogram s Patenga yesterday afternoon as a ship would set off for Bhasan Char from there today.
Buses carrying the Rohingyas left the temporary transit point set up at the field of Ukhia Degree College around noon.
The government is planning a foreign diplomats visit to Bhasan Char. Over 7,000 Rohingyas have already been relocated to the island from Cox s Bazar and more will be joining them in the coming days. We are planning, especially for our friendly ambassadors who want to support us, a visit to Bhasan Char soon, Commodore AA Mamun Chowdhury, project director of Ashryan-3 at Bhasan Char, told The Daily Star during a visit by a group of journalists to the project on February 9-10.
Bangladesh Navy has implemented the Tk 3,100 crore housing project at Bhasan Char in Noakhali s Hatiya upazila for 100,000 Rohingyas from Cox s Bazar. The initiative was taken after some 750,000 Rohingyas fled a military crackdown in Myanmar s Rakhine State in 2017 and took shelter in Teknaf and Ukhia.
Bangladesh Mahila Parishad has expressed grave concern and resentment over the torture of a housewife after an attempt to rape her in Noakhali's Hatiya upazila and circulation of the footage of the incident on social media. The organisation released a statement regarding this yesterday after many dailies published news about the incident.

Five people were arrested on Sunday night in connection with a case filed over the torture of two people, including a housewife after an attempt to rape her, in Noakhali s Hatiya upazila.
The arrestees are the main accused Jihad, 30, of Mollahgram, Faruque Hossain, 30, Abu Taher, 27, Nabir Uddin, 32, of Adarshagram and Alamgir Hossain, 42, of Miaji village under Hatiya upazila, said Md Alamgir Hossain, superintendent of police in Noakhali during a press briefing yesterday.
The man who was tortured along with the housewife filed an assault case accusing the arrestees and six others on Sunday night.
