Job growth grew faster than expected in March, thanks to a flurry of hiring within the government and the health care sectors, Labor Department data shows.
WASHINGTON U.S. employers posted 8.7 million job openings in October, the fewest since March 2021, in a sign that hiring is cooling in the face of higher interest rates yet remains at a still-healthy pace.
Available positions decreased to 8.7 million in October, below all estimates in a Bloomberg survey of economists and the decline was broad-based across sectors.
