Penguin Bloom stars Naomi Watts, Andrew Lincoln and Jackie Weaver. The film is based on the uplifting true story of the Bloom family and the magpie ‘Penguin’ who became an integral aspect of their life.
The Blooms, an Australian family visiting Thailand, had their lives inextricably altered when an accident left Samantha Bloom paralysed from the waist down. The film examines life after the accident as Samantha and the family learn to adapt to the challenges of their new existence. Months after the accident Noah Bloom, the eldest son, rescues an abandoned baby magpie and brings her to the family home. The magpie is soon adopted into the family and is called ‘Penguin’
