Every GOP Lawmaker Opposes Dem Voting Rights Bill Supported by Majority of Republican Voters
On 5/4/21 at 10:11 PM EDT
No Republicans in Congress support a Democratic voting rights bill despite a majority of GOP voters supporting the legislation.
The For the People Act passed the House in March without a single Republican voting in favor of it. The bill remains stalled in the Senate, where its potential to progress is unclear due in part to unified Republican opposition. A poll released Monday from Democratic firm Data for Progress found that a 69 percent majority of likely voters support the bill, including a 52 percent majority of Republicans. The bill is supported by 85 percent of Democrats and 70 percent of independent voters.

Republicans pray for truce after Trump attacks on McConnell
The two Republicans could be back serving together in fewer than four years. But not if Trump keeps calling McConnell a “dumb son of a bitch.”

Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell s relationship simply can’t go on like this for Senate Republicans.
Though the Senate GOP is tantalizingly close to retaking the majority next year and largely united in opposition to President Joe Biden’s agenda, the ongoing feud between the former president and the Senate minority leader has decayed to an entirely untenable place. Trump’s insult-laden diatribe against McConnell this weekend signals that the GOP could splinter badly in primaries next year and raises the question of whether McConnell and Trump can work together at all.

Just over a year ago the COVID-19 global health pandemic began the public health and economic crisis that infected almost 30 million people in the U. S. alone and took over 540,000 American lives. In North Dakota over 100,000 of our just 762,062 population were infected and 1,466 North Dakotans lost their lives. This loss of life is accompanied by tremendous economic and social hardship.
