KIND kiltwalkers across Inverclyde raised more than £6,000 for a local Christian mission. Fundraisers walked, cycled and danced their way across Inverclyde for Kidron as part of this year s Virtual Kiltwalk weekend. The energetic activities generated more than £4,000 which will be increased to more than £6,000 by the Sir Tom Hunter Foundation. Kidron s non-executive director Colin Campbell says the team are thrilled and completely shocked by the amount of money raised. He said: We didn t have very high expectations as we know it s been a very difficult time for everyone. We weren t able to do any fundraising at all last year so it was great to see so many people getting involved this time around.

Plans and drawings for a new ice skating rink in San Francisco were presented to a group of potential investors at the Burlingame Country Club in September 1925. The rink was to be oval, without corners to aid materially the execution of fancy skating and the dancing of the Continental numbers, among them the double turn waltz that was so popular at the time.1 It was also supposed to be large, a third larger than the former Techau Ice Palace and stretching from 48th Avenue to the beach perhaps to compete with the vastness of the Fleishhacker Pool.
AN Inverclyde church gathered frontline workers together to tell the true story of Christmas in a unique film. Hope Community Church won t be able to host its Christmas Eve service at Greenock Town Hall this year due to coronavirus restrictions. To ensure the church still reaches out to the community, minister Fraser Donaldson came up with an innovative idea which reflects how Inverclyde has coped with the pandemic. Fraser reached out to vital organisations across Inverclyde - from hospitals and schools to shops and libraries - and asked for volunteers to read lines from the Christmas story. He was overwhelmed by the response to his request and managed to assemble a cast of almost 40 local heroes.
