Of a possible ebola case here in our region. A patient at Howard University hospital was tested for the virus. Were still working right now to try to figure out those results. News 4s derrick ward meanwhile joins us live from the hospital. Derrick, what can we expect and learn later today . Well, we may learn more about the condition of the patient. Probably around noon as we hear from a spokesperson for the hospital. But you can say that the fears and concerns about ebola in our area as they stand right now have been cut by 50 . That is without knowing exactly the fate of the patient here at Howard University hospital. Now it was yesterday when we learned that a patient was admitted here in stable condition, exhibiting symptoms of the ebola virus. And that patient had indeed traveled to the country of nigeria and africa. So that patient has been admitted here. Tests are being run. Fire. The flames can be seen from miles away. We saw them driving up on the interstate on 695. Firefighters were called to k and k tire auto repair around 8 30. So were looking at several hours now. Were told they arrived here coming from a shed on the property. The fire quickly spread eventually consuming tires, vehicles and other auto parts on the property. This is an Industrial Area of howard county. Were within just a few hundred yards of restaurants, shops, stores. There are folks coming out of some of these places to take a look. The fire does not seem to be threatening them yet, but its definitely creating a strong chemical odor in the air. You dont have to be nearby to catch a whiff of that. The closer you are, the harder it is to breathe, an awful smell. Tires can be very difficult to control, a tire fire can. It can be very difficult to extinguish.
