An Eastern Cape woman who took over her husband’s taxi business in the Western Cape after he was gunned down by unknown people in 2020, has now also been shot dead. She was killed by two assailants in her home in rural Bhaziya near Mthatha on New Year’s Eve. Sindisiwe Qononda, 39, a mother of three, and close friend Yolakha Mateta, 27, were shot while relaxing at Qononda’s home in Xenge village at about 8pm.
