POPLARVILLE, Miss. (WDAM) - There’s still magic in the “championship mustards.”
Wearing their golden pants Sunday, the No. 3 Pearl River baseball Wildcats walked off visiting Northeast in Game 1, 13-5, in seven innings to clinch the program’s fourth MACCC Championship. In the night cap, PRCC scored early and held on late to tame the Tigers 8-6.
“I’m proud of them. It doesn’t hit you until right now. How tough what we did all year was. How tough this year was on us and how special that group behind me is,” Pearl River coach Michael Avalon said. “We came out and swung the bats. They had their best guy on the mound and I knew we would have to battle. I was kind of glad that we were trailing because you saw the heart of a champion when they battled back.
After virtually no offseason last year, Jones College was able to hold a very productive spring in 2021.Fifty-one players participated in 12 football practices – the final one held on Thursday.The Bobcats return experience, including third-year quarterback Quaterius Hawkins.

LUBBOCK, Tx. (WALB) - The stage is set for the Lady Jets from South Georgia Tech.
Wednesday the ladies take the hardwood looking for their shot to become the next division one junior college champions. The sixth-ranked Jets have been inside the top 10 for the majority of the season.
With a nine-game winning streak carrying them into Rip Griffin Center in Lubbock, Texas, they trust their experience and work this season will be the difference maker to advance to the next round.

TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - The Tyler Junior College volleyball team will be heading to Missouri for the NJCAA National Tournament.
The Lady Apaches earned the seven-seed in the tournament and will play their first game on April 15 against 10-seeded Northeastern JC. TJC earned their spot in the tournament as an automatic bid. They will be joined at the event by fellow Region XIV schools Blinn and Navarro.
The team finished 11-4 on the season and 8-4 in conference. All tournament games will be played in West Plains, Missouri.
