Danny James St. Louis, 76, a former resident of Elkins, passed away Nov. 12 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he was living for the past several years.
Danny was born Dec. 18, 1943, in Norway, Michigan.
He earned a B.S. degree at the University of Wisconsin and later a Masters in social work from the University of Denver. Working with children was his strength and passion, and he worked for many years at Appalachian Mental Health in Elkins. Dan created and ran a Wilderness Survival Program for adolescents and also a Youth Environmental Group. He taught for two years at Alderson Broaddus College, which led to the opportunity to teach in Nizhney Novgorod, Russia. Danny remained working for children in Russia for many years and in Pittsburgh continued efforts to help children with autism until his death.
