A person is in custody Tuesday night after a police chase that started in Hurricane and ended in Nitro. Nitro Police Chief confirmed that information. Police at the scene say that the Hurricane Police Department started the pursuit after observing someone driving excessively fast and recklessly. The driver continued onward, reaching speeds more than 100 mph on Interstate 64 before getting off Exit 45 into Nitro. The driver continued through Nitro, hit a guardrail and got out of the car running. Police say the driver who was taken into custody is from Detroit and was driving a rental car.
