Paintball doesn’t have the long history of hockey. It hasn’t emerged in recent years like mixed martial arts, which has turned into a mainstream activity with Ultimate Fighting Championship events held regularly.
But in Prince George, a dedicated group of individuals have been practicing and competing in paintball together for the past five years. They’re passionate about the sport, and would like to see more expansion in the region.
Roger Landry captains the Prince George Blacklisted team. Although the squad of 15 players has only about a dozen Prince George residents, they have travelled through B.C. and Alberta to meet for competitions. Last year, they made a few trips to the B.C. southern interior. This year, they planned to compete in a couple of tournaments in Boyle, Alta., a village 160 kilometres north of Edmonton.
