BALANGIR: At least 19 final-year MBBS students of the SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, had a narrow escape when the bus in which they were travelling to Balangir overturned in Nayagarh district on Friday night. The accident took place near Banigochaa around midnight when the trainee doctors were on their way to join Covid-19 duty.
The Nayagarh district administration and police immediately rushed to the accident spot and rescued the passengers. “While the driver of the bus was seriously injured in the accident, the students sustained minor injuries,” Balangir SP Kusalkar Nitin Dagudu said. He added that following the accident, the passengers were sent to Balangir in another bus after primary medical treatment in the nearest hospital.
