Protesters said more farmers will join the agitation later in December
GHAZIABAD: After the khap panchayats in Haryana, those in western UP districts have decided to back the ongoing farmers’ protests on the Delhi borders. Members of the khaps are likely to join the agitation at UP Gate on the Ghazipur border and elsewhere this Thursday.
The heads of various khap panchayats met on Monday at Shoram village in Muzaffarnagar and decided to extend their support to farmers, who are protesting three recent central laws on farming. “By December 17, more than half a dozen khap leaders along with their supporters will march to the Delhi-UP border,” said Devendra Malik, spokesperson for the Bharatiya Kisan Union-Tikait.
