Leona Alice ‘Lee’ High
WILMINGTON Leona Alice “Lee” High, 76, went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, Feb. 15, 2021, after fighting a long, valiant battle with numerous ailments for many years, the latest and most taxing, pulmonary fibrosis. Lee had been confined to Liberty Commons on Racine Drive since December 2019, when she became paralyzed from the waist down.
Lee was born in South River, New Jersey, and she graduated from South River High School in 1962. She worked for the telephone company (a job she loved!) for several years before her marriage. She married Phillip High from Hallsboro on June 5, 1971, and they moved to Wilmington together and lived here for the rest of her life. After moving to Wilmington, she worked for Southern Bell for a few years.
