Justice Muhammad Lawu Lawan of the Yobe State High Court has sentenced the Yobe State Auditor General for local government, Alhaji Idris Yahaya, to five years’ imprisonment for misappropriation of public funds to the tune of N19.9million. Yahaya was arraigned before the court by the Maiduguri Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a one-count of criminal misappropriation to the tune of N19,900,000.
An Abuja-based businessman and financial consultant, Dr. Maurice Ibe, has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, citing threat to his life and accusing the Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, of allegedly orchestrating it. Charles Ude, Esq of Charles Ude and Co, Solicitors to Dr. Ibe had, in a petition (Ref No. CU/01/EB/2022) to the IGP, raised the alarm to the police authorities to forestall the alleged “illegal and unlawful attempt to abduct, kidnap and harass Dr. Maurice Ibe by the executive governor of Ebonyi State.”
