Deal on urban wastewater: the EU wants the cosmetics industry to pay

The European Parliament, the Council and the EU Commission have reached an agreement on the revision of the Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive. For the first time in the wastewater sector, a ‘polluter pays’ principle will be implemented: the pharmaceutical and the cosmetic industries will have to pay! An interinstitutional agreement was found this week in Brussels between the European Parliament, the Council and the Commission on a proposal to revise the Urban Wastewater Treatment.
