Thirty new homes for people over the age of 55 will be built on the Penketh Tavern land in Penketh. Warrington Housing Association (WHA) has been granted permission to start construction of the affordable housing on the Greystone Road site and will be ready for residents to move in by April next year. The development will consist of 30 one- and two-bedroom apartments and has been funded by WHA and a £1,320,000 grant from Homes England. Niki Stockton, director of operations for WHA, said: “Our decision to provide new homes for the over 55s was based on the local housing need. “The development is within an established thriving community and is close to a range of shopping, leisure and health service facilities as well as great transport links.
