Despite our astoundingly difficult times, fans and patrons of LGBTQ Bay Area bars and nightclubs were extraordinarily generous to multiple fundraising efforts in 2020, donating nearly $400,000. Queer Nightlife Fund Raises $300K in 2020, Still Accepting Donations To Support Workers in 2021 2020 was a collective dumpster fire of year one trailed by the bitter ash from scorched COVID-19 hot spots. Though the Bay Area s nightlife venues continue to sit empty, the San Francisco Queer Nightlife Fund (QNF) raised over $300K last year to help the workers who once filled those spaces. When the pandemic descended with an all-consuming, deafening thud, life as we once knew it came to an ominous standstill. The program, titled Breaking Ground, premieres December 11, will include a modern take on the Sugar Plum Pas de Deux from The Nutcracker; Juntos, a neo-classical work by Cincinnati Ballet Soloist Joshua Stayton; and a world premiere by Artistic Director of Boca Tuya, Omar Román de Jesús.
