Trees available from Appalachian Chestnut Initiative
Delivery day for landowners and homeowners desiring to plant hybrid chestnuts on their farms, or land they own, is Saturday, July 24, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The Appalachian Chestnut Initiative has about 1,000 seedlings in either three-gallon or one-gallon pots available for free to those living in Cocke, Greene, Sevier, Jefferson and Hamblen counties. Those interested should call before Friday night, July 23, to reserve the number of seedlings they desire or for more information or the location. Contact Col. Tom Taylor at 828-443-0593 or local, 423-248-8453. These are free trees to help farmers and landowners.
