Stories of heroes with almost superhuman abilities are not new aerial combat. During World War II, German soldiers on the Russian Front talked about supernatural women pilots who terrorized them on the front lines.
By the end of the war, there were three female air regiments that eventually flew more than thirty thousand sorties and produced at least thirty Heroes of the Soviet Union.
Now nearly eighty years after the Night Witches and other women helped defend the Motherland, the Russian Aerospace Force has announced that the female fighter pilot cadets have finished the fourth course at the Krasnodar Higher Military Aviation School.
