Economic activities in Kaduna State have been grounded following the commencement of the five-day warning strike by the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
The NLC is protesting the sacking of thousands of civil servants by the state government without following due process.
As early as 7am, the state secretariat and other government offices were padlocked and chained, while the workers converged on the state secretariat of the NLC along Independence Way, Kaduna.
Although the gates were said to have been opened by the state Vigilante Service, the workers refused to go to their offices.

The Chairman of the South-South Governors’ Forum and Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, on Saturday, pushed back on the anti-restructuring comments by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, and other critics of the resolutions reached by the Southern Governors’ Forum during last Tuesday’s meeting.
Okowa spoke on behalf of 16 other governors from the Southern zone of the country who he hosted in Asaba, Delta State capital.

This is as Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, also, on Saturday, said the decisions reached by the Southern governors, including the demand for restructuring, were irrevocable.
Seventeen Southern governors, who jettisoned their party affiliations, had met to discuss urgent national issues and reached some resolutions, which are now referred to as the Asaba Declaration.
Bayelsa says it is currently one of the few states in the country where other arms of government function independently including the local government system.
NULGE orders stay-at-home as thugs invade Ekiti LG secretariat

HOODLUMS suspected to be political thugs on Tuesday invaded the Ado Local Government Secretariat in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, leaving workers scampering to safety in the compound.
A worker at the secretariat resident in the neighbourhood, who preferred anonymity, expressed surprise at the development, which she said put the lives of council workers and elected and political office holders at risk going by the manner the armed thugs invaded the place, shooting indiscriminately.
The worker said, “The thugs arrived at the secretariat at about 10 am after some councillors arrived at the secretariat to commence the impeachment process on the Council Chairperson, Omotunde Fajuyi, over alleged high-handedness, incompetence, and gross misconduct.
