At least 16 Civil Society Organisations across the country have called on the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, the Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof Mahmood Yakubu and President Bola Tinubu to take urgent measures to reassure Imo State citizens of genuine commitment to ensure free, fair and credible election in Saturday's governorship election.
The Rule of Law and Accountability Advocacy Centre (RULAAC) has said there is indication that the forthcoming governorship election in Imo State will not be credible because of abuse of power by the state Governor, Mr. Hope Uzodinma, as exercised recently. The group made this known in a press statement on Friday by Okechukwu Nwanguma, Executive Director RULAAC, while condemning the governor for sponsoring some hoodlums to disrupt and harass the Nigerian Labour Congress President, Joe Ajaero, during workers’ protest in the state on Wednesday.
