    The Nigerian Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun has written to the Controller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service to place Mrs. Okoli Chioma Egodi on the watchlist.   Chioma Okoli is being prosecuted by the Nigeria Police Force and Erisco Foods Limited over a review of one of the company’s products that she did on Facebook.   SaharaReporters in January reported that policemen on the alleged orders of Egbetokun invaded Okoli’s residence in Lagos State in an attempt to arrest her.

Lawyer Petitions Inspector-General, Egbetokun To Stop Nigerian Police s Rampant Seizure Of Phones, Other Electronic Gadgets At Stations

A Lagos-based lawyer, Robert Igbinedion Esq has written a petition to the Nigerian Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, over the rampant seizure of phones and other personal gadgets of citizens at various police stations nationwide. Igbinedion, who is also the founder and convener of National Association for the Defence and Advancement of Nigeria (NADAN), said the Nigerian police had the habit of always asking anybody visiting the stations to submit their phones and gadgets before being allowed in.

The Centre for Human Rights and Social Advancement (CSFSAN) has asked the Nigerian Inspector General of Police to probe the alleged killing of a man identified as Ibrahim Sani who was said to have died while in police detention. A press statement dated December 14, 2023, and released by Yusha'u Sani Yankuzo, Esq, the Executive Director of the group, said the late Sani, aka Halifa Jega, was arrested along with another person for allegedly stealing a motorcycle by vigilantes and taken to the police for proper investigation on November 26, 2023.

A civil society organisation under the aegis of Center for Reform and Public Advocacy (CFRPA) has written to the Nigerian Inspector General of Police, accusing 27 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly of impersonation and conspiracy to take over the Assembly. The organisation described the 27 lawmakers who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday as former members of the House of Assembly.
