IPOB Rejects Further Trial Of Nnamdi Kanu, Berates Nigerian Govt Officials Over Refusal To Appear In Court

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has said that it has decided to vehemently reject further trial of its detained leader, Nnamdi Kanu by the Nigerian government.   IPOB, which said this on Thursday in a statement issued by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, said the Nigerian government deliberately refused to appear before the court on Thursday. Powerful in the statement said that IPOB stands by the judgment of the Appeal Court, which discharged and acquitted Kanu in 2023 and ordered that he should not be tried again in any Nigerian court.

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja on Monday upturned the election of Senator Ishaku Elisha Abbo.   The Abuja Division of the Nigerian Appeal Court has affirmed the N50 million awarded against Senator Elisha Abbo in damages for assaulting a woman, Ms Osimibibra Warmate, in a sex toy shop in the country's capital, Abuja.   SaharaReporters reported on September 28, 2020, that a FCT High Court had ordered Elisha Abbo, a representing Adamawa North Senatorial at the National Assembly, to pay N50 million as compensation to Warmate for assaulting her at a sex toy shop.
