The Siparia family that lost a father and son hours apart to covid19 last week has been given an additional ten days to quarantine at home.
Verlenie Dass-Ramkalawan, 28, who tested positive for the virus, told Newsday that an official from the County Medical Health Office (St Patrick district) contacted the family on Monday.
The worried mother of two said the official also told them the family can reintegrate into society without additional tests after the ten days. What if, after the ten days, we are still carrying the virus? That is reckless and risky. We are trying to see if we can get some proper answers as to why we will not be tested again, Dass-Ramkalawan said.

In a wobbly and brittle tone, 36-year-old COVID-19 patient Rodney Baker spoke to Guardian Media via his cell phone. Warded at the Couva Hospital and Multi-Training Facility, he is fearful that he might not make it and his toddler boys, who already lost their mother to the virus last Sunday, will become parentless. You never know what could happen. I am in here (hospital) but I’m scared. I don’t want to think negative but I get scared a lot that I won’t see my children, he bemoaned.
PM tells CoP to ‘encourage’ COVID compliance

Commissioner of Police Gary Griffith is now authorised to “encourage” people to obey the COVID-19 regulations and the new restrictions announced yesterday for the next two weeks.
Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley made the announcement yesterday at a media conference at the Diplomatic Centre, St Ann’s, to update the public on the COVID-19 situation and empowered Griffith and the T&T Police Service (TTPS) to “encourage the population in all the ways you know about” in order to curb congregating.
