The health and wellbeing of the Manuherekia River and its ecosystems must be the priority in deciding the catchment’s future.
“The river needs to have a much greater share of the water,” Otago Fish & Game environmental officer Nigel Paragreen said.
Fish & Game welcomes public consultation on the Manuherekia River by the Otago Regional Council.
We will carefully consider the five proposed scenarios for flow management during the consultation period.

A proposal by Otago Regional Council to make residents who live immediately around the polluted lake pay most of the restoration cost is unfair, Otago Fish & Game environment officer Nigel Paragreen says.
