Two people were critically wounded in a shooting spree at an industrial park in Frederick, Maryland, on Tuesday before the suspect was fatally shot at a nearby military installation, police said. The suspect, identified as a 38-year-old Navy medic, entered a business in the Riverside Tech Park and some people fled, but it was not immediately clear whether the shootings took place inside or outside the business, Chief Police Chief Jason Lando said.

Two victims are shot and one suspect is down after a shooting in Maryland

A 38-year-old gunman was shot dead by military personnel at Fort Detrick in Maryland after shooting and two men.   Just after 8am Tuesday morning, Frederick police responded to an active shooter in the 8400 block of Progress Drive . Authorities said the victims were flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Centre in Baltimore where they remain in critical condition.  The suspect was later shot by a military personnel at the Fort Detrick base. Police said first responders rendered medical aide but the gunman, who has not been identified, died a short time later.  Fort Detrick Police have neutralized an active shooter situation involving an armed gunman and medical lifesaving procedures were initiated. The gunman was pronounced dead at the scene, base officials tweeted.

The gunman drove through a gate at an entrance to the base before military personnel confronted him on a road inside, said Fort Detrick spokeswoman Lanessa Hill. “It wasn’t that long after he came through the gate that the shooter was stopped, Hill said. “Not even a quarter of a mile.” She said Frederick police had given base officials advance notice, so we knew that he was out there.”

Two Males in Critical Condition, Shooter Killed, in Frederick A 38-year-old U. S. Navy Hospital Corpsman entered a business in the Riverside Tech Park in the City of Frederick around 8:20 Tuesday morning and began shooting. The shooter then got into a car and drove to the nearby U.S. Fort Detrick, where he was shot by personnel on base. When Frederick police arrived at the base, Navy personnel were administering life-saving procedures. The shooter was reported dead at that location, according to Police Chief Dwight Sommers. The two male shot were flown by helicopter to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, which is part of the University Medical Center. They are both in critical condition, according to Sommers.
