He was accused of the July 20, 2023, daylight murder of Nicoli Rhys on Neal Pen Road that prompted a month-long State of Emergency in parts of Southside Belize City. But David Noel Sutherland, 31, of Custard Apple Street, was informed today in court that the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions had sent a memorandum to the court, directing the court to withdraw the charge of murder against Sutherland for reasons of insufficient evidence to prove the charge gathered by police.
