With everything that will be different about the 2021 Sundance Film Festival a shorter event, with fewer films, most of it happening online the quality of movies on the slate has stayed constant, said the festival’s new director, Tabitha Jackson.

someone whose family had to actually flee their home on the beach because of the storm. nicole salazar is in fairfield, connecticut, and joins us now. nicole? hi, veronica. how are you? hi. thanks for spending time with us. you had to flee your home on the beach. where was that? i live on fairfield beach road in fairfield and i had to evacuate around 10:00 a.m. when the police came around and gave us mandatory evacuation notices. why was this? was the water rising in that area? at the time it wasn t. i think they just wanted to get everybody out before the storm really started to pick up. you don t know what s happening there now in terms of damage? i don t. a little scary. where are you and your family right now? we re currently staying with some friends of ours on the other side of town. we re actually in a very wooded area, and trees are making me a little bit nervous.
it s very, very windy and loud out here. tell us a little bit about the weather right now. it s very windy. and it s very loud. the trees are swaying and the rain is really coming down right now. actually a few minutes ago i went out to my car to grab something and i was soaked within a few seconds. so rainy situation where you are. of course, this hurricane is hours away from making landfall. what is the biggest concern right now for you and your family? do you know when you ll be able to go back home? caller: we don t. actually about 20 seconds ago the power just went out here. we re hearing reports of power outages all over connecticut as well as up and down the east coast. i believe more than three million people at this point are without power. nicole salazar, we do appreciate all your time and we, of course, are keeping you and your family and all those that are affected by this storm in our thoughts.
