3 as yoo heard candace mention. commuters downtown can finally see the light again. light street is open after 5 weeks of repairs following a huge water main bre. break.joel d. smith is here now to show us how it looks ttday, and how far they ve come. good morning joel d. that s right guys.access to light street is back. but it s been a rough weeks to get to this point. point.we veebeen keeping you up to date, ever since the pipes broke under the downtown street last month. traffic like you see here, went from a standstill, to just slow, to finally detoured. the pipe break from that 20 inch water main busted the road between east lombard and east baltimore street.. causing cracks in the road and flooding.. the pipes were repaired days ago and officials were just waiting on phe road repairs.those were done in a week. and yesterday. the street reopened. businesses closed temporarily, and were getting creative to get by. cold a.c. happy hour 4 to 7 and we got broken water main
