HOLBROOK, NY The Islip Planning Board on Wednesday approved a special permit for an Amazon distribution center in Holbrook at the northeast corner of Veterans Memorial Highway and Broadway Avenue. The distribution center does not need Town Board approval.
Some nearby residents are concerned about noise, traffic and lighting.
Matthew and Nicole Grucci own a neighboring home and are organizing the local opposition. They created an online petition outlining the issues they have with the center. According to the Gruccis, delivery vehicles Amazon shared that there will be approximately 20 18-wheelers, [over] 200 delivery vans, and [75] to 100 [additional] drivers
