Teacher s ultra marathon for Target Ovarian Cancer

A teacher is taking on an ultra-marathon in honour of his mother-in-law who has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Matt Roberts, head of PE at Dorchester Middle School, has started training for an ultra-marathon which is scheduled to take place in May 2021. He will be running to raise awareness of ovarian cancer, a cause which has become close to his heart after his mother-in-law, Nicole Crane, 74, was diagnosed with the disease at the beginning of this year. Matt, his wife Demelza, a PE teacher at St Osmund s Church of England Middle School in Dorchester, and his two daughters were all devastated when they heard her diagnosis.

Research from the Center for Weight, Eating and Lifestyle Science (WELL Center) in the College of Arts and Sciences at Drexel University suggests that health counselors having access to self-monitored health data would improve a person s weight loss maintenance. Researchers studied 87 adult participants in a 12-month weight loss program. For the entire study participants were asked to complete three self-monitoring activities daily - wear a Fitbit fitness tracker, weigh themselves on a wireless scale and log their food intake in a smartphone app.
