READERS have offered more ideas on what should happen to the space that houses Barrow’s Debenhams when the shop closes. The department store chain was bought by online fashion retailers Boohoo, with all physical stores due to close by May 15. Mail readers have spoken out on social media on what could become of the Portland Walk shop and paid tribute to staff. Nicola Rees said: Use it as a shopping centre with loads of different outlets inside, like a mini Trafford centre. Then use Portland walk for cafes, restaurants and bars.
