Bristol mayor Marvin Rees was taken to task over his Brislington Meadows U-turn in an election hustings last night.
Mr Rees announced earlier this month he would reverse plans to build 300 homes on the fields in southeast Bristol and would preserve them as a wildlife haven instead.

Frenchay Bridge has a cast iron plaque in the centre of its span over the River Frome with incised lettering that informs it was built by subscription in 1788.
Another sign says that it “is unsafe to carry a weight beyond 6 tons” on the bridge – “by order of the Chipping Sodbury Rural District Council”.

A “demoralised” Labour councillor broke ranks with a stirring speech criticising the mayoral model, as a bid to hold a referendum on whether to scrap it was defeated.
Mike Davies, a councillor for Ashley ward, became the latest to rebel against the party whip on Tuesday when he seconded a Lib Dem motion calling for Bristolians to be given a fresh say on having an elected mayor.
He told full council the current system had made the role of members “hollow” and let communities down.
