Street people are saying that the Trade Union Movement in Grenada needs some new blood. In some trade unions, the persons in leadership positions are not representing the workers adequately. They are saying that it seems as though the government and the trade unions are working together to oppress the workers of this country and when it is convenient, Rachel Roberts, the leader of the Public Workers Union, which represents the largest number of public workers, instead of putting up a good resistance and meeting the workers to adequately represent the workers, just comes out in the media making a set of noise. According to some well-informed street persons, she knows that the union’s election of officers is coming up in March, so she is trying to ‘sing for her supper, but its too late now, since most of the public workers are looking for a new and vibrant

One of Grenada s leading defence attorneys and former advisor to the Government of Grenada on maritime law, Anselm Clouden said the Government of Grenada must be blamed for the recent spike in the number of COVID-19 cases on the island. Speaking to members of the media on Tuesday the veteran criminal lawyer, who has consistently called for the closure Grenada’s borders said, in light of what is taking place in Grenada with the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases, Sandals should not be the one blamed for what he dubbed, the calamity Grenada now finds itself in. He noted that the government has once again let down its guard and failed the people.

A growing outbreak of COVID-19 at Sandals Grenada has the government there scrambling to find out what happened and guests wondering what to do next.
The Ministry of Health confirmed a cluster of at least 26 cases including guests of the all-inclusive resort, employees and some of their contacts. That brings the country’s COVID-19 caseload to 71, and that number is expected to rise.
