VENTURA, Calif. A downtown Ventura restaurant is getting national attention. On Tuesday. Ivanka Trump tweeted about ‘Nick The Greek’.
Outdoor dining is banned under the regional stay-at-home order, but restaurant owners are pushing back.
Last week we introduced you to Anton Van Happen, who owns Nick The Greek in Downtown Ventura. He started a movement aimed at protesting restaurant restrictions.
“I spoke to the Health Department before I did that and he gave me his word that was fine because you are allowed to protest,” said Van Happen. “I continued to serve all my food to go, and it was everyone s own prerogative to go sit on the tables.”

CA Restaurant Owner Compared to Mafia ‘Hitman’ After Confrontation with Health Inspectors Goes Viral
A Ventura, California restaurant owner is being compared to a mafia-style ‘hitman’ for allegedly violating the city’s Coronavirus restrictions by opening his business.
“Are you going to pay my rent?”Anton Van Happen, the owner of Nick the Greek Souvlaki and Gyro House, says to city health inspectors in footage later shared by a reporter for The Daily Caller.
“I followed the rules, I continue to follow the rules and you guys still time after time are giving me citations, telling me I have to close my business! What about my employees?” Van Happen says in the video.
Tyranny against a California restaurant owner
A Ventura, California restaurant owner was forced to close because he had voluntary outdoor dining on Friday night in protest. Governor Newsom and Mayor Garcetti are tyrants who go way too far. Their enforcers came down on him, claiming Newsom’s and Garcetti’s arbitrary rules are the law.
Meanwhile, those two release prisoners mindlessly and allow rioters and looters to escape all accountability. When will we reject this CCP-style tyranny?
Anton Van Happen, who has also appeared on Tucker’s show, refused to shut his restaurant down when ‘health inspectors’ came by Friday night and told him they had to do it – right before Christmas. He’s worried about his employees and wants to stay open.
Restaurants in downtown Ventura remain open despite outdoor dining ban

VENTURA, Calif. (KABC) Several restaurants in downtown Ventura are continuing to offer outdoor dining despite a state ban on the activity amid rising coronavirus cases and hospitalizations.
Last week, the owner of the restaurant Nick The Greek put up signs advertising a protest and since then, patrons have filtered in for a sit-down meal outdoors.
Other restaurants in the area have also remained open, citing what they call a lack of evidence that outdoor dining is dangerous.
Jan Holguin, owner of Casa Bella, said they decided to reopen following the ruling from a judge that Los Angeles County health officials acted arbitrarily and failed to perform the required risk-benefit analysis before enacting its ban on outdoor dining.
